Patharas frustrate govt, occupy New Preedy Streets

Karachi:The roadside vendors have again frustrated the government and occupied New Preedy Street, creating trouble for motorists, commuters and pedestrians.

Dozens of Patharas and pushcarts, selling second hand shoes and toys, old clothes and fruit have successfully occupied the New Preedy Street, after they were removed from Empress Market area.

Citizens complain that corrupt elements in area police, traffic police and DMC officials might be involved in resettling of the encroachers on the New Preedy Street, as without their patronage they cannot do business, occupying road and footpaths.

They have appealed to the authorities to take notice of this show of bad governance and clear the New Preedy Street from all sorts of encroachments and roadside vendors, as after recent closure of a section of M A Jinnah Road all traffic load is diverted to this corridor.
