KARACHI: Karachi police on Tuesday claimed to have apprehended 21 alleged criminals, including two diesel smugglers, from different parts of the metropolis during the last 24 hours.
According to police sources, during crackdown on street criminals, police conducted search operations in Ibrahim Hyderi, Baghdadi, Shershah areas and apprehended 12 criminals, Yaseen, Abdul Hameed, Ilyas, Nazir Imran, Shoaib, Sagheer, Hameed, Ayaz, Rehmat Ali, Feroz, Nazeer Akhtar and Imran.
The police recovered 11 TT pistols, two snatched motorbikes, 13 cell phones and drug form their possession.
On a tip-off, Steel town police foiled a bid of 5,000 liters Iranian diesel smuggling and arrested two accused Shoukat Khan, son of Muhammad Yousuf and Muhammad Suleman son of Amir Alam. Police seized an oil tanker with registration No DUA -206 and handed over to the Customs officials for further investigation.
Meanwhile, police arrested seven drug peddlers in different search operations, in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, Gulberg, Zaman town and Model Colony.
The accused identified as Saddam Hussain, Muhammad Rehan, Muhammad Tahir, Altaf, Mazhar, Junaid, and Zeshan, and recovered a hug quantity of hashish, wine, Gutka from them.
