QUETTA:Protest sit-in of Harnai Bachao Tehreek (HBT) outside Quetta Press Club continued for the third consecutive day on Sunday.
Talking to PPI, Syed Noor Shah, Chairman, Harnai Bachao Tehreek (HBT) said that HBT organised a long march from Harnai to Quetta for the sole purpose of bringing the genuine demands of the people of Harnai, one of the backward districts of Balochistan, into the notice of higher authorities for redressal.
He added that after travelling for 11 days, participants of long march reached Quetta and accordingly set up protest camp outside Quetta Press Club to get the 47 demands of HBT, including restoration of railway line from Harnai to Sibbi area of Balochistan, maintaining law and order situation in district Harnai, providing job opportunities to the unemployed youth of Harnai, establishing of university campus in Harnai, steps against drug abuse, restoring old constituency status of district Harnai, construction of sports complex in Harnai, provision of ambulances to all Union Councils of district Harnai, setting up offices for officers of district administration in Tehsil Shahrug by giving the full-fledged status of Tehsil to Sharug, overcoming the deficiency of teaching staff in government girls colleges and schools of district Harnai redressed. Syed Noor Shah added that HBT was having no political agenda rather it waged a struggle for the legitimate rights of the people of Harnai.
Representatives of different political parties and social organizations, including MPA Nasrullah, Moulana Abdul Haq Hashmi, Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Balochistan, Muhammad Amin Badini, former Vice President, Balochistan Civil Secretariat Officers Welfare Association (BCSOWA), visited the protest camp of HBT to express solidarity with the protesters.
