PSB Mohibullah Khan Squash Academy players get DG PSB cash honoraria

Peshawar: The cash honoraria announced by Director General Pakistan Sports Board Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera for the players of PSB Mohib Ullah Khan Squash Academy awarded to them here on Saturday.

Associate Secretary Pakistan Sports Writers Federation and Senior Sports Journalist Ijaz Ahmad was the chief guest on this occasion. Coaches of the Academy Pervez Ali, Shehzad Mohib, trainer Adil Khan and academy players were also present.

Since inauguration in way back 2006, DG Pakistan Sports Board after every six month provide all squash playing gears including rackets, ball, two pair of playing uniform and Rs. 500 PM stipend to each of the 12 Academy players of different aegis. Ijaz Ahamd distributed Rs. 3000 to each of the 12 Academy players.

In his speech, Ijaz Ahmad lauded DG PSB Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, founder of the Academy Mohib Ullah Khan, former World No. 2 squash player, Director PSB Mumtaz Ahmad Nadeem and specially Academy coaches Pervez Ali, Shehzad Mohib and trainer Adil Khan for taking keen interest in running the affairs of Mohib Ullah Khan Squash Academy working under the aegis of Pakistan Sports Board.

Ijaz Ahmad termed the Academy as vital tool in contributing well to the game of Squash by training and coaching upcoming players for the future of squash in Pakistan. He said unless and until players do not go for hard work Pakistan could not achieve the desire result at international level.

He said Pakistan need best trainers rather than coaches so that they could playing four to five hours with the top players both at junior and senior levels if want to get back the lost glory. He also appreciated the dedication and comment of the two coaches Pervez Ali and Shehzad Mohib along with trainer Adil Khan that the Academy players producing good results in various events. He said the Academy has been playing very vital role in boosting upcoming talent at grassroots level.

It is good that the Academy conduct trials of various age groups categories including Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15, Ijaz Ahmad added. It is also worth appreciable that the players of the PSB Mohib Ullah Khan Squash Academy have excelled time and again because of the daily training under qualified coaches.

He paid tribute to former World No. 2 Mohibullah Khan, DG PSB Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera named after PSB Academy as Mohibullah Khan Squash Academy. He expressed the hope that DG PSB would increase the players honoraria to Rs. 1000 PM from Rs. 500 PM. Ibrahim Mohib, Humam Ahmad, Mutahir Ali Shah, Walid Khalil, Hammad are currently playing at the national level in Under-11 categories before joining the academy at the age of eight, Shehzad Mohib said.

He said two of the Academy players Bilal Sajjad and Khushal Riaz were playing at Under-15 level while Hammad, Ghulam Mohammad, Jawad Hussain, Talha Iqbal and Fahad Sharif are currently part of the Under-13 category.

Shehzad Mohib also disclosed that Khushal Riaz recently participated in US Circuit and gave very encouraging performance before playing in the United Kingdom. “We pinned high hope from Khushal Riaz would excel in the field of squash,” he said. He said if provided a chance Khushal Riaz have the potential to come up at international level.

Shehzad Mohib said that besides these selected probable with PSB Mohibullah Khan Squash 25 other players of different age group are dialing coming to the Academy. Among these players most of them are below Under-12, Shehzad Mohib informed.

He also appreciated Fahad Sharif and Waleed Khalil who have showed good performance at national junior level besides Humam Ahmad and Ibrahim Mohib in the Under-11 categories.
