Quetta terror attack: Death toll 61


Quetta: At least 61 trainee cops embraced martyrdom and more than 116 other injured when armed terrorists stormed a hostel of the Police Training College Quetta, here on night between Monday and Tuesday.

Hospital sources said at least 61 police cadets have embraced martyrdom and condition of some injured is critical. Emergency has been declared in all Quetta hospitals.

Balochistan home minister Sarfaraz Bugti told media the hostel complex has been cleared from the terrorists by security agencies.

At least 700 police cadets were present in the building at the time of attack. Police, frontier constabulary and army surrounded the hostel and rescued 250 cops and shifted them to safer places. So far at least 116 injured were rushed to the hospital, some of them in critical condition.

Inspector General frontier constabulary major general Sher Afghan said the attackers belonged to a banned outfit being operated from Afghanistan.
