Quetta terror attack: Death toll rises to 35


Quetta: At least 30 trainee cops embraced martyrdom and more than 116 other injured when armed terrorists stormed a hostel of the Police Training Center Quetta, here on night between Monday and Tuesday.

Balochistan home minister Sarfaraz Bugti told media that at least 30 police cadets embraced martyrdom; however the hospital sources said 35 trainee cops were dead so far.

Armed terrorists opening firing and lobbed hand grandees after entering the hostel situated at the suburban area of Saryab, 20 miles in the south of the city.

Police, frontier constabulary and army surrounded the hostel and rescued 250 cops and shifted them to safer places. So far at least 116 injured were rushed to the hospital, some of them in critical condition.

The number of the attacker is estimated at six; however, three terrorists are killed so far; however, operation to clear the hostel was under way.

Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and Balochistan chief minister Sanaullah Zehri have strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the police cadets.
