Report: (Punjab govt to plant 130 million trees in five districts)

ISLAMABAD: The Punjab government with the help of private sector will plant 130 million trees, over an area of more than ninety nine thousand acres of forestland, in five districts of the Southern Punjab.

According to a report quoting South Punjab Forest Company Chief Executive Officer, Tahir Rasheed, the districts where plantation would be launched include Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

With completion of this tree plantation project, around 240 billion rupees would be added to the economy and government would earn approximately R 20 billion. The project would also help reduce logging pressure on natural forests of the country. Work on tree plantation would be started by April, 2018.
