Robber killed in alleged police encounter

KARACHI: A robber was killed in an alleged police encounter in Boat Basin area of the metropolis on Friday.

According to police source, a police team received a call that two robbers were looting passersby near Boat Basin area. As soon as they reached there, the robbers fled the scene. When the police asked them to surrender, they opened fire. The police returned fire. As a result, a 30-year-old Muhammad Akram, son of Abbas, sustained severe bullet injuries, while his accomplice fled the scene.

Police also recovered a TT pistol with rounds snatched mobile phones and a motorbike from his possession. The injured robber was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for treatment where he succumbed to injuries.
