KARACHI: An accountability court on Monday granted exemption to former petroleum minister and Pakistan People’s Party leader Dr Asim Hussain from appearance in a corruption case of Rs462 billion.
During the hearing, others accused in the same case Ather Hussain and others appeared before the court. Counsel for Dr Asim moved an application for exemption of his client from appearing in the court, informed the court that Dr. Asim presently is out of the country for treatment.
The court accepted Dr Asim’s plea for exemption from attendance. However, a witness of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Asad Jokhiyo was presented before the court.
The court adjourned the hearing till April 3 due to lack of original documents with the witness.
