LAHORE: Provincial Assembly Member Shahab-ud-Din Saher called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar in his office here on Monday.
MPA Shahab-ud-Din Saher apprised the chief minister about the damages caused due to the erosion of River Indus in Layyah and appealed to redress the issue to save crops and the population. MPA Shahab-ud-Din Saher appealed to the CM for construction of river training works for prevention of erosion due to Indus River. The CM immediately sought a report for construction of training work at Moza Rakhwan on Indus River. It is worth mentioning that due to erosion of river 600 houses near the bank of river at Basti Rakhwan and Dhapi were facing permanent danger.
Indus river erosion was also causing damage to standing crops in Union Council Wara Sahera thereby the building of the girls school at Rakhwan had to be demolished and students were shifted to some other place. Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar ordered the Irrigation Department for permanent solution of the matter. He assured the provincial member for early solution of the public issue and directed concerned authorities for immediate action.
