December 25, 2017

KARACHI: Sindh bar Council (SBC) will observe strike and boycott the court proceedings throughout the province on Tuesday (today) to condemn the arrest Advocate Khawaja Shams-ul-lslam who had been booked for allegedly misbehaving with the law enforcers.

In a video went viral, Advocate Islam, the senior practicing lawyer at the Sindh High Court, can be seen arguing with the police personnel who stopped him while he was driving the sports car for snap checking near Sea View few days ago. Later, the case was lodged and the advocate was arrested by the police which produced him before the judicial magistrate.

On the other hand, Advocate lslam alleged the police of misbehaving with him when he was on his way to home at Abdul Sattar Edhi Road. Currently he was out on bail approved by the magistrate.

In a statement issued here, SBC Vice Chairman Qurban Ali Malano, Chairman Executive Committee Abdul Wahab Baloch, and other members strongly condemned the act of police for registering the FIR against their colleague.

While requesting the legal fraternity of Sindh to observe complete strike on 26th December, the SBC demanded of the police to withdraw the FIR immediately.
