SC seeks lab report on packaged milk within 15 days

KARACHI: The Supreme Court on Saturday directed the authorities to conduct lab test of all packaged milk being sold in Sindh from Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR).

Hearing the case pertaining to sub-standard milk at its Karachi registry, the apex court full bench, headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, ordered that sample of these packaged milk should be sent to lab at the earliest.

During the hearing, the CJP remarked that same sort of complaints were received from Punjab and most of the brands’ milk was found sub-standard. The Sindh government was found sleeping, we would not tolerate this behavior, he added.

The court ordered that the samples of all brands be collected and the same should be examined from PCSIR. It sought the report on the quality of the milk within 15 days.
