Peshawar

Peshawar: The Corridor Front has formed a Supreme Council and Council (SCC) have decided to launch a public movement against the federal government for deceiving masses particularly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) about China Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Addressing a press conference here at Press Club on Wednesday, the members of SCC also rejected the Section-4 Land Acquisition Act between Thakot and Havelian and the Western Route inaugurated by the Prime Minister (PM) recently in D I Khan.

The SCC members are included Begum Naseem Wali Khan of Awami National Party-Wali (ANP-W), Baba Haider Zaman of Movement for Hazara province, Fanoos Gujar of Awami Worker Party (AWP) and Dr Said Alam Mahsud, who vowed to not let the federal government to deprive the KP province and others of their rights regarding CPEC.

They said that their voices not only for the KP province but for all people who they added from Gilgit to Gwadar are being deliberately deprived of the benefit regarding CPEC. They alleged that the federal government especially federal minister for planning and development Ahsan Iqbal deceived the members of All Party Conference (APC), if he (Ahsan Iqbal) does not tell lie, all minutes of the five meetings of Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) be made public to know the truth.

The Planning Commission of Pakistan is not competent enough to deal with the mega project of CPEC, which they have never experienced in past, therefore, a corridor authority be established, in which equal representation of the four provinces including Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Gilgit Baltistan be ensured, they added that a technical help be taken from China, which has already constructed 15 corridors.

They stressed the need of environmental study for the project in Gilgit Baltistan and Hazara wherein the greenery will adversely affect due to CPEC because five thousands vehicles will ply on the route daily, they also demanded for providing continuously supply of electricity and gas to the areas aimed at avoiding deforestation.

The chief of Soba Hazara movement, Baba Haider Zaman determined to fight for the rights of poor masses whether they belong to the Hazara division or other areas, he also appealed to the masses to take to the streets for their due rights because in such system of the country, poor are always ignored. “The rulers have been depriving the poor of their rights since the very inception of the country and they (Rulers) applied their decisions, whatever they suit it”, they blamed. On behalf of his movement, he ensured all kind of support to the corridor front.

Fanoos Gujar on the occasion urged the people to shun their slumber and come to the roads for their due rights because no one is ready to give rights of their province sans public force, so the public should take the matter seriously to ensure the bright future of their coming generations.

Farid Tufan made it clear that the coalition of the corridor front is not alliance for elections but to snatch their rights from the federal government in CPEC, which he added had been stolen and the federal government wanted to provide developments to Punjab while other parts of the country were made a scapegoat.

“We will never accept Punjabistan”, Zubair Anjam of Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam-Nazriyati (JUI-N) determined and added that they would go to any extreme to get the western route from Burhan to Peshawar and from here to FR Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marvat, D I Khan, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Quetta, Basima till Gwadar. He ensured that the JUI-N would host the leadership of corridor front Southern districts of KP and the whole Balochistan.

The corridor front announced the schedule of the protest movement after Ramadan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Islamabad if the federal government did not review its pledges made in the past meetings regarding CPEC.
