GILGIT: Seven people were killed and five other missing after a van fell into Ghizer River in Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday.
According to rescue sources, a passenger van fell into Ghizer River in Hopur area of Ghizer district. As a result, seven people suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.
Soon after the incident, locals and rescue team rushed the site and started rescue operation. However, seven bodies were recovered, while several other passengers were stated to be missing.
Most of the passengers were members of Tableeghi Jamaat and were returning home from Ghizer. Search for the missing people were under way till filing this report.
The bodies were shifted to District Hospital Gakoch for medico-legal formalities.
