SHC directives: Committee formed to regulate increase in school fee

KARACHI:On the directives of the Sindh High Court (SHC), the provincial government has formed a 12-member committee to regulate the increase in school tuition fee.

Earlier on March 05, the SHC while disposing of the petitions filed by the parents of children studying in private schools against managements for increasing fee more than five per cent in violation of the rules and regulations, had directed Sindh government to form permissible rules for increase in fee within 90 days.

The school education and literacy department constituted a 12-member committee led by Dr. MansoobHussainSiddiqui and comprising IhsanullahLaghrai, MsRafia Jawed, Ms Dr. Fauzia Khan, JameelYousif, MsAminaSaiyed, Dr. Akbar Yasdani, AsimYaqoob, MsUzmaMukhtar, Ameer Fancy, Khalid Shah and Sharfuzzaman.

The committee has been tasked to draft permissible rules through suitable amendments in the Sindh Private Educational Institutions) Regulations & Control) Rules 2005. It has also been directed to submit its recommendations to secretary education and literacy department within 45 days.
