SHC dismisses plea against termination of PSP chief as garbage incharge

KARACHI:Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking replacement of former mayor Karachi, Mustafa Kamal as Project Director Garbage.

A SHC bench headed by Justice Shafi Siddiqui heard the plea and asked about the rules of the appointment. “Have you arrived here for joking,” the Justice remarked.

Justice Siddiqui questioned: When the appointment was not made as per the rules how its suspension could be challenged in the court.

“Tell the court the relevant law under which an appointment is made in this method,” the Judge asked.

Move of dismissing Mustafa Kamal as Project Director Garbage by city mayor was challenged in the high court on Wednesday.

The petition was filed by Iqbal Kazmi against the dismissal notification for PSP chief as project director garbage. Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar, Mustafa Kamal and Secretary Local Government Sindh were made respondents in the petition.

“Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar appointed Kamal as project director garbage on 26th August but removed him from the post very next day without fulfilment of legal obligations,” the applicant stated.

The applicant had prayed that the move of dismissing PSP chief should be declared null and void and he should be given a chance to clean the city.’’

He said mayor Karachi and local government were not ready to fulfil their responsibilities.
