SHC issues notices to PSO bosses on contempt application

Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and General Manager of human resources on contempt of court application filed against them for not complying with its directives for regularizing 208 contractual employees.

A division bench was hearing an application filed by one Bakht Siddiqui requesting the court to initiate its contempt proceedings against PSO CEO Imran-ul-Huq Shaikh and human resources General Manager Shahzad Safdar Khan for flaying its orders regarding regularization of contractual employees.

The applicant submitted before the court that the employees were serving for several years and in May 2017, the SHC had ordered their regularization. Siddiqui added that instead of regularizing the employees on the high court’s directives, the PSO administration had approached the Supreme Court which held the SHC verdict and ordered the PSO to regularize them and pay their dues.

He said that despite the clear directives of the court, the PSO administration was not complying with the court’s directives; therefore the contempt of court proceedings should be initiated against its bosses.

Issuing notices to above mentioned officials, the court directed them to submit their respective replies within 15 days.
