KARACHI: The Sindh high Court (SHC) on Thursday directed the provincial police chief to inquire into the killing of another citizen in ‘staged encounter’ and submit report before it.
A division bench was hearing the petition filed by the family member of Mohammad Arif who was allegedly gunned down by police in a fake encounter in 2014.
The court was informed that the law enforcers had picked up Arif on February 04, 2014 from his home located in Surjani Town. The petitioner submitted that Arif was killed in a staged police encounter, later.
The investigation officer told the judges that Arif was a mugger and killed in police encounter during a robbery.
Directing the inspector general police to inquire into the matter, the court sought report by the next hearing.
