SHC summons DG FIA in missing children case

KARACHI:Sind High Court (SHC) on Thursday directed the Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to appear before it on next hearing in the case of 20 missing children belonging Karachi.

A two-member bench of the SHC heard the petition and remarked that there is anxiety found in families over non recovery of their missing children.

The police officials produced a recovered girl before the court and told the court that girl was sexually assaulted which is confirmed in medical reports.

The police told the court that an accused, Waqas, who sexually assaulted the girl and threw her at outside of home in unconsciousness condition. The accused is relative of victimized girl. The court expressed annoyance over the police for not arresting the accused.

The bench directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh to consider the matter and it summoned the DIG on next hearing.

Despite the court orders, FIA official did not appear before it. The bench remarked that FIA and police should jointly take steps to recover the missing children.

DIG Crime told the court that a team was formed on the orders of IGP Sindh.

The court expressed displeasure for recovering only one child out of 20, and directed the police to ensure the recovery of missing children as soon as possible.

‘’Until the children are not recovered DIG will appear before the court on every hearing,’’ the bench remarked.

The bench also ordered the police to apply modern technology for the recovery of children and it also directed the police officials to provide progress report after recovery of missing children till 20th December.

Mother of the assaulted girl, stated before the court, that her daughter was sexually assaulted.

Another woman, mother of a missing girl Muneeza, told the bench that her 12-year-old girl has been missing since two years.

The court, later, adjourned the hearing till 20th December.
