SIBI: Centuries old historic Sibi Mela would bet underway Wednesday. All arrangements have been firmed up and security has been strengthened. Important buildings and city has been decorated tastefully. Besides welcome banners along the roadsides big pictures of President, Prime Minister, Balochistan Governor, Chief Minister, provincial ministers and others have also been installed.
According to details Great General of Balochistan Sardar Chakar Khan Rind had laid tradition for this mela. Its importance was raised when tribes of Balochistan get together by resolving their mutual disputes and celebrated occasion. They also sold their animals on the occasion. Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah graced Shahi Darbar after Pakistan came into being at Sibi Mela.
Chairman Organising Committee and Deputy Commissioner Sibi Zakir Khan Nassar told that several new and special items have been included in Sibi mela celebrations. Special programmes have also been chalked out for women. All events of mela would be made memorable. Traditional programmes of Mela have also been included. He said Pak Army’s free medical camp, exhibition of military equipment, book mela, Industrial and agricultural exhibition, Army parade, flower shows, horse and cattle show, animals cavalcade, motorcycle jump, musical night shows, tent pegging among cadet college students, meena bazaar for women, children shows and special children’s programme are part of mela. Sports competitions among girls and boys at schools and colleges level, sports, Naat khwani, post making, pet show, fire work and other programme have also been finalized during the mela.
DC Sibi said that economically the mela is considered important ceremony for country and Balochistan and it is popular all over Pakistan. He said we also host people and livestock holders at the mela and would maintain this tradition this time also. He said Sibi mela is not name of circus or entertainment but it is name of important ceremony of Pakistan. Sibi mela plays important role for livestock and agriculture.
He said Anti corruption Department would also setup its stall at the mela this year enabling people which departments are involved in corruption in Balochistan and what steps were being taken against them. Howe Balochistan government was taking measures against corruption.
DC said that special arrangements would be made for security of mela and fool proof security would be provided to the people. He said mela commencing form Wednesday would continue till March 4, 2018. Opening ceremony would be held at Chakar Khan Stadium and all arrangements have been finalized.
Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai and Commander Southern Command Lt General Asim Saleem Bajwa are likely to attend Sibi mela. Invitations have also been extended to President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, All Governors and Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries and ministers.
