Sindh CM terms killing of nine laborers a cowardly act


HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday termed the killing of nine Sindhi laborers near Gwadar as a cowardly act and added the Sindh government would provide all possible help to the heirs.

He was talking to media men at the concluding ceremony of the three-day annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA) at Sehwan Sharif today. The chief minister said that this year more than two millions devotees had come to paid tribute to Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA) at Sehwan Sharif which was almost 25% more than last years. He said that better arrangements for the Urs had been made this year.

He said that according to the 1973 Constitution, the province which produce the gas has first right to utilize it; therefore, their protest was justified as it was their democratic and constitutional right. He said that they believed in getting rights of people of Sindh in democratic way.

The CM said that his recent visit to China was aimed to attend the conference but getting benefit of being p there, he met ministers of Transport & Planning and Vice President of Monetary Institution besides discussing Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project there.

Replying to a question, the Chief Minister Sindh said that everyone had right to protest in Sindh and PSP leaders had got the NOC for the protest; therefore, there was no need to lodge cases against them and added that PSP leaders were already facing many cases.

Replying to a question about shortage of water in Kotri downstream, Shah said that earlier there was 60% shortage of water and the share of water which had to be given to Sindh was not yet received. He said that the matter was brought to IRSA and federal government and it was demanded to give the water share to the Sindh from the stored water and added that now there was 15 to 20 per cent water shortage which would soon overcome.

Replying to a question about killing of nine Sindhi laborers in Gawadar, the chief minister Sindh strongly condemned the incident and termed it a cowardly act and added that President PPP Sindh Nisar Khoro would offer condolences to the deceased families and the Sindh would also give every possible help to them.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid a floral wreath at the mazar of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar and offered Fateha.
