KARACHI: Secretary Sindh Information and Archives Department Imran Atta Soomro has said that after court decision it is now mandatory for media houses to justify that people working with their organization are not government employee.
Sindh information department is trying its best to play the role of a bridge between journalists and government, he said while addressing a certificate distribution ceremony for freelance journalists who have completed their three-day freelance mobile journalist at local hotel Wednesday.
The training was organized by Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF). Freelance journalists from different districts of Sindh participated in the training program.
Secretary Sindh information said that the government is also trying to bring some changes in issuance of accreditation cards. Freelance journalists will also be included under a separate category and they can get the government accreditation cards. He said that information department wants to enhance capacity of its staff to meet requirement of modern media.
Secretary General Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) Owais Aslam Ali said that PPF was also working on issues of freelance journalists. No other organization has worked on the problems faced by the freelance journalists. PPF is also encouraging modern mobile journalism, so that journalists living in the remote areas could also be benefited.
