Sindh govt wants a park at site of Hotel Metropole

September 4, 2019

Karachi:Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has decided to acquire the land of Hotel Metropole and establish a modern park for children and elderly people there.

This he said while presiding over a high-level meeting here at CM House, which was also attended by Minister Local Government Nasir Shah, CM Advisor Murtaza Wahab, Chairperson PandD Nahid Shah and others.

Murad Shah said that the Metropole Hotel is located in the center of four busy roads where traffic volume remains high almost round the clock. He said construction of any high-rise building at this site would cause further congestion of traffic and create environmental issues.

He said that this government wants to acquire the land of Metropole Hotel to construct a beautiful park designated only for children and elderly people. He said in future all projects would be developed keeping in view the environmental conditions, capacity of roads and sewerage system and provision of other facilities.

The chief minister pointed out that the left turning of road from Metropole towards Clifton remains jammed. He said to address this issue a portion of the land of Sindh Club at that corner may also be acquired for widening of the left turning of this road.

The chief minister directed Commissioner Karachi to talk to the owners of the Metropole Hotel and the Sindh Club management for acquiring their lands and report him within 10 days.
