Sindh Health Department alerts hospitals

KARACHI: Director Health Services Karachi, Dr Tahir Aziz Sheikh has directed the District Health Officers (DHOs) and other concerned officials to make necessary arrangements in healthcare facilities for provision of first aid treatment facilities to citizens affected by heatstroke and its related complications.

Talking to PPI, Dr Tahir Aziz Sheikh said necessary instructions have already been issued to concerned health officers and DHOs for making necessary arrangements in hospitals to assist people affected by the scorching heat.

He informed that they have already directed them to allocate beds for the heatstroke affected patients in their respective health facilities.

He said ORS, drips, drugs and other facilities are available in Sindh government-run hospitals of Karachi. He said public awareness sessions are also being carried out in various hospitals to sensitize the general public.

Dr Sheikh advised the citizens to take more water and wear light color dresses. He said the elderly people and children should avoid exposure in the sun to prevent them from heat related complications.

He said stock of drugs, ORS and drips is also available at Director Health Karachi Office to meet any emergency like situation during this heat spell.
