Sports: Cricket: National Disabled T20 first phase final today

Karachi: Multan will face host Karachi team today (Thursday) in the final of the first phase of 6th National Disabled T-20 Championship here at Rashid Latif Cricket Academy Ground in Gulberg.

Former test cricketer Iqbal Qasim will be the chief guest while Patron PDCA Saleem Karim will preside over the closing ceremony.

Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association (PDCA) is organizing the tournament.

Another eight teams will play in the second phase of the national tournament in mid February in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The winner of the second phase final will meet the winner of the first phase, either Karachi or Multan team.

“We are planning to host the grand final here at National Stadium in March, hopefully before Pakistan Super League (PSL) final,” PDCA Media Manager Mohammad Nizam told PPI.

He added that PDCA was also planning to broadcast the final live. “It would also serve as a rehearsal for the PSL final at the venue.”

Renovation work is underway at National Stadium, which is scheduled to host high profile PSL final on March 25.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday Multan, Karachi and Faisalabad recorded their second consecutive wins in National Disabled T20 event while the match between Sargodha and Quetta Bolan ended in a tie.

Defending champion Multan defeated Hyderabad by seven wickets; Karachi overcame Quetta by 13 runs; Faisalabad beat Bahawalpur by 12 runs.
