Karachi: Pakistan’s National Golfer Shabbir Iqbal maintained his lead with 138 gross on second round of Bank AL Habib’s 7th Rashid D. Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Championship underway here at Karachi Golf Course.
Mohammad Munir of Islamabad is following Shabbir with a gross of 140 and he did 4 under par on Friday. Moazzam Siddique of DHA alongside Amjad Yousuf, Ahmed Saeed (KGC) and Matloob Ahmed of Lahore Garrison golf are joint second with M. Munir with 140 gross.
Shabbir did only one birdy on first hole and then hit all par. Munir came closer to Shabbir by playing an excellent round of 4 under par. Mohammad Zubair of Karachi Golf Club also performed well today with 5 under par. Waheed Baloch of KGC, ranked fourth, shot 1 under par and missed lots of put.
A total of 104 golfers competed in the Rs. Six million prize money golf tournament on Friday. The golfers from all over Pakistan played at partly cloudy weather with clear visibility. The course is in excellent condition where the players despite wind were able to attack the pin because of hold on the greens.
