Sports: Hockey: PHF sacks joint Secretary Khalid Bashir

Karachi: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has sacked Associate Secretary Khalid Bashir for continuously violating the code of conduct of the federation.

While speaking during PHF Executive Board meeting at PMDC Office in Islamabad on Thursday, President PHF Mohammad Khalid S. Khokhar accused Bashir for continuously violating the code of conduct of PHF and issuing statements against the policies of PHF. He said that his removal was initiated on disciplinary grounds. Members of the Executive Board unanimously endorsed the PHF decision.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary PHF, All Provincial Secretaries, Khushbakht Shujat Chairperson PHF Women’s Wing, Mohammad Saeed Khan Vice-President PHF, Brig. Ghulam Jilani Director Army Sports Directorate and Technocrats Syed Musaddiq Hussain, Naveed Alam and Qasim Khan.

Meanwhile, Khokhar also said that PHF management intends to make the existing system of scrutiny and elections as transparent as possible for the betterment and uplift of the game.

He said that scrutiny and elections will be conducted and dates will be announced shortly. Secretary PHF deliberated on the agenda points and announced Interclub Championship at district level to be conducted by April 30 2018 under respective Provincial Hockey Associations.

It was also decided that a system has to be devised for a club to qualify for acquiring voting rights. Certain measures were discussed by the House for betterment of the hockey at club level.
