Karachi: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Tuesday announced probables for 3rd Youth Olympics, which will be held in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentine, from October 1-12, this year.
The Asian hockey qualifiers for the Youth Olympics are to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from April 25-29. The top two teams from these qualifiers will represent Asia at the Youth Olympics.
PHF has named 51 probables for the initial camp ahead of the Youth Olympics. The camp will begin from April 2 at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad.
The players have been directed to report to Kamran Ashraf, the coach of the national junior team, at the Allama Iqbal hostel, Pakistan Sports Complex, in Islamabad on April 1.
It is pertinent to mention that the hockey event of the Youth Olympics is played on 5-a-side format. Therefore, PHF has planned a 5-a-side tournament for the camp trainees, at the newly established Shahnaz Sheikh hockey stadium in Rawalpindi.
The tournament will be held along with the training camp. After the conclusion of this tournament, the final squad for the youth Olympics qualifiers will be announced. The team would attend a short training camp before departing for Thailand.
