Karachi:Versha Das is now the top ranked female tennis player in Sindh while Farhan Altaf retained top ranking in men’s event, according to half yearly ranking published by Sindh Tennis Association (STA) on Saturday.
The rankings have been announced on the basis of points accumulated by players in various ranking events played during January to June this year. 2018
Versha Das became top ladies singles player for the first time in her tennis career after shed accumulated 70 ranking points. Young Versha belongs to famous Pakistan’s Das coach family and learned her initial tennis in Dubai from his father Ajay Das, who works in UAE as a tennis coach at a reputed tennis academy.
Meanwhile, Farhan Altaf retained his top position in men’s singles after accumulating 90 ranking points. He is the son of legendary Altaf Hussain, former Davis Cup player and former Pakistan No 1 and Asian Games silver medalist.
In Juniors Under 17 singles, Mohammad Ali secured top position with 135 points.
Mohammad Yahya Ehtisham is now the top ranked Under 15 Singles player with 100 points. In Under 13 Singles event Taha Aman with 100 points is the top ranked player.
In Under 11 singles event Ahsan Ahmed has clinched top position with 60 points. Duraf Das with 50 points is the top ranked player in U-9 singles event.
