Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 1 in 2 Pakistanis say they support a woman’s decision to work even if her spouse is able to support the family financially.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Would you support or oppose a married working woman earning money or running a profitable business even if her husband is in a position to fully support her and the family?”
in response to this question, 50% said they would support a situation where a married working woman is earning money or running a profitable business even if her husband is in a position to fully support her and the family, 43% said they would oppose and 7% did not know or did not wish to respond.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1673 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, January 28 –February 03, 2018. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
