TDAP scam hearing adjourned

KARACHI: An anti-corruption court here on Thursday adjourned the hearing a multi-billion rupee trade subsidy scam against ex-prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and others, due to absence of judge.

The hearing was adjourned to date which will be announced by the court staff later as the judge was on the abroad to perform Hajj.

The Pakistan Peoples’ Party central leader Gilani, some ex and serving officials of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and some other persons are facing cases for their alleged involvement in embezzling billions of rupees through fake trade subsidy schemes.

The accused have been charge sheeted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in around 25 cases out of the total 70 investigations time-lined with the previous tenure of PPP-led federal government.

Meanwhile, the ex-premier and others have obtained bail from the court and their acquittal applications are also pending.
