Transporters stage rally against arrival of used buses

LARKANA:The members of Chandka Bus and Van Owners Association Larkana took out a rally on Saturday against the highhandedness of relevant authorities who have brought used buses from Punjab in the home district of martyred Benazir Bhutto which, according to them, have created lot of unrest among them and transport workers.

The rally started from New Bus Stand and reached Jinnah Bagh after marching through various main thoroughfares where the participants staged a sit-in in the hot day and shouted slogans. Due to blockade of main roundabout, all kinds of traffic came to standstill and the commuters suffered badly in this scorching heatwave.

While addressing the participants, their leaders, including Manzoor Hussain Brohi, Bahadur Khan Jalbani, Ali Hassan Kaheri, Comrade Niaz Hussain Khoso and Javed Ali Mithani, said that old buses had been brought from Punjab by a member of ruling party which would be allowed to ply various routes in Larkana due to which it was feared that labourers would face great difficulties which were condemnable in strongest possible words.

They further said the motorway police were also taking frequently actions against their buses, vans and coaches which too was highly objectionable. They said that if old and unusable buses were brought from Punjab and allowed to run on Larkana roads, their labourers would be deprived of their jobs and would face unemployment.

They said that it was highly unjustified that a provincial minister was involved in doing and managing the outdated transport system to please his bosses and gain political benefits which could not be tolerated. They demanded of the Sindh government and Larkana’s district administration to stop this system which they reject completely as it was being done at government level so that future of hundreds of poor transport sector labourers could be saved along with their families.
