Two suspects sent on physical remand for killing Rangers, policemen


KARACHI: The administrative judge of Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday sent two suspects, Fazal Khaliq and Shair Ali, on physical remand till the 17th August 2016 in the murder case of two Rangers personnel and a traffic policeman.

After producing the suspects before the administrative judge of ATC, the Investigating Officer (IO) informed the court that the suspects were involved in attacking Rangers and traffic police check post in Karachi’s Gulzar-e-Hijri area in December 2011, which claimed the lives of two Rangers men Enayat and Hakim, and traffic police sub-inspector Qamar-ud-din Peerzada.

The IO requested the judge to remand the suspects into their custody police wanted to interrogate them to trace their connection and locate whereabouts of their absconding accomplices. The court accepted the IO’s request and remanded both the accused into police custody till August, 17.

The assailants attacked the check posts which were closed to each other on 10th December 2011 and gunned down two personnel of the paramilitary force and a police-man. ASI Khadim and a passerby, Salman, also sustained injuries in the attack.

The case was registered under sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 attempted murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
