Voters education awareness walk held in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A voters education awareness walk was held in Hyderabad, which was organized by the District & Voters Education Committee (DVEC). It was led by Imtiaz Ali Kalhoro, District Election Commissioner Hyderabad & Chairman of the committee. The walk was organized to create awareness amongst the voters about registration of voters and its importance.

In order to increase the number of registered voters and to increase the turnout in next general election 2018, the Election Commission of Pakistan has constituted District and Voters Education Committees in all the districts of Pakistan consisting members of government departments, NGOs, CSOs, political parties and education department.

The walk was taken out from District Council Building to Press Club Hyderabad which was attended by ADC-I Hyderabad, government officers of different departments, members of education department and elected councilors and a large number of women. Imtiaz Ali Kalhoro, District Election Commissioner Hyderabad while speaking at the event heighted the importance of the vote and shared the details of different activities conducted by DVEC Hyderabad during which awareness sessions have been held in different schools and colleges as well as with the different NGOs and CSOs.

He further informed that before the local government election 2015, there were a total of 970,885 voters registered in District Hyderabad which had increased up to 989,438 in 2017. He further said that the total number of male voters in District Hyderabad is 546,894 and that of females is 442,544.
