Walk for education in Lower Dir


Peshawar: The elementary and secondary education department, Lower Dir has, Thursday arranged an awareness walk at Talash for bringing out of school children to educational institutions.

Local teachers, students, parents and community elders took part in the walk. The participants of the walk were carrying banners and placards.

Deputy district education officer, Ali Haidar, President Anjuman Tajaran Talash, Dr. Noor Mohammad, Timergara tehsil nazim, Riaz Mohammad and others while addressing the gathering on the occasion highlighted the importance of education.

The speakers said that the state, society, parents and teachers should join hands to ensure 100 per cent literacy rate in the country. They said the government could do nothing without the support of parents and society to promote education, they added.

Meanwhile, the Sociology department, University of Malakand in collaboration with National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) also organized an awareness walk at Chakdara regarding enrollment campaign.

The varsity’s students, social and political activists besides general public participated in the walk. Later on, addressing a seminar the NCHD provincial director, Anwar Iqbal, general manager, Saifullah, coordinator, Murad Ali Bukhari, chairman sociology department, UoM, Prof Dr. Arab Naz and others termed education as a basic right of the child and said it was the responsibility of the state to provide education to each child in the country.

They said education was key to success and development. They said that university students and teachers should play their role in bringing out of school children to education institutions.
