Water scarcity torments Sindh Police Hospital’s patients

KARACHI: Sindh Police Hospital, Karachi, has been facing acute water shortage since many weeks, causing great inconvenience to patients and medical staff in handling the patients.

An official at Sindh Police Hospital Karachi told PPI that the hospital had been facing acute water shortage since many weeks which had not only created sanitation problems but have also put administration into trouble in handling patients. He informed that the water being supplied to healthcare facility was highly contaminated and was also not fit for drinking and washing.

“The acute water shortage has increased the miseries of patients, doctors, nurses, paramedics and other staff. The cleanliness and other routine works have also been badly affected due to the water scarcity.”

He said the hospital administration had still not taken the matter seriously as no alternate water supply through tankers could yet be arranged to meet the shortage. The hospital’s sanitation system was also badly affected due to water shortage.

Medical Superintendent, Sindh Police Hospital, Karachi, Dr Abdul Jabbar Shaikh was not available for comments.
