LARKANA: Sindh’s Culture & Tourism Department has started work at World Heritage site of Moenjo Daro to save the ruins from water logging and salinity and from upcoming rains.
In this connection Architect Naveed Ahmed Sangah told newsmen on Tuesday that the work has been kicked of near stupa under his supervision. He said mud is being cleaned out of drains near D K area and the drains will be further strengthened to withstand rapid flow of next rain water.
He said work will be carried out as soon as required funds are released to these ancient monuments to save them from destruction. It must be mentioned here that Sindh Government has taken no proper foolproof steps so far to save the ruins from damage on permanent basis as no repair and renovation work has been made on priority and the boundary wall around the demarcated area has not yet been completed which shows the seriousness of the rulers towards this historical cultural site which has given the country a unique identity among the nations.
