Workshop for biologists held at MAJU

KARACHI:Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU), Karachi Prof Dr Kamran Azim has said that more and less all automated software’s have shifted to computer based in biological sciences presently.

Software or software program based analysis most of them are an easy to use platform of biologists to learn with lucid programming list and modules available in chief supply. Learning python based programming is now an indescribable pre-requisite in biological sciences now days. These views he expressed while he was addressing to the concluding session of a two week long workshop on Python programming for biologists last evening at university campus. The workshop was organized by Biosciences department, MAJU in collaboration with House of Interdisciplinary Interaction Club. (HIIC). Around 15 Biologists from Karachi University, Usman Institute of Technology and other institutions attended this workshop. Biologist Mohammad Ali of Karachi University was the instructor of workshop.

The other experts who addressed the workshop included Dr. Ali Shoaib, Dr.Khitab Gul, Dr. Bushra Bilal, Dr. Huma Javed, Faisal Shahid and others. Addressing the workshop, Dr. Kamran Azim said that this workshop had focused target audiences related to Bioinformatics and wish to open new dimensions of thinking in young scientists. He said that biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics had their own limitations in the past but now due to research activities these limits are no more exist. He said that now it has become very necessary for a Biologist to be expert in computer science and mathematics.

He said that we cannot continue our research activities to keep ourselves in a particular domain; we need expertise which helps us to continue our research work. He told that we are still not providing computer science education to biologists in the country which has become more vital now and realizing this fact we have organized this workshop.

Another objective to organize this workshop was that we want to bring expert from different departments at one place so that they may share their knowledge and experience with each other.
