(CITY): Medics continues OPD boycott, hold demo in Larkana

LARKANA: On the call of Grand Health Alliance, Sindh, medics of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) held a protest demonstration after boycotting their OPD duties for the third consecutive day here on Thursday for full day demanding restoration of risk allowance, health insurance, regularization of contract doctors and paramedical staff members, service structure and so forth.

They shouted slogans in favour of their demands. Young Doctors Association president Dr. Irshad Abro, Dr. Qaisar Jatoi, paramedic association office bearers Zamir Sangi, Munwar Mangi, Jabbar Narejo and others participated in the protest.

While talking to newsmen they alleged that doctors and paramedical staff are serving the ailing masses across Sindh putting their lives at risk and denying them Risk Allowance is highly unjust which has provoked them. They said the government is giving life to the indisposed persons through them but it is involved in snatching lives from others who treat them medically. They demanded of the provincial health minister to reconsider her decision and other relevant government authorities to restore the allowance and accept other demands as well.

Meanwhile over 5000 poverty-stricken patients that attend daily all the four main OPDs of the CMCH suffered very badly due to the strike by both doctors and paramedics which almost paralysed the entire government healthcare system in the city. Previously CMCH paramedics boycotted their OPD duties which continued for over 24 days but after intervention by district administration they called off their strike but the poor people were deprived of medical treatment during their period.

The poor patients and their relatives as well as residents of Larkana have demanded to impose complete ban on strikes in hospitals so that indisposed people should not suffer for negligence of others.
