20 streets of Larkana submerged under sewage

LARKANA: Over 20 streets of Larkana’s various localities, including Kausar Mill, Haidry Muhalla, Hussain and Muhalla, have submerged under sewage due to non-functioning of disposal machine since over one week. The municipal authorities have done nothing as yet to get it repaired.

The area residents, Junaid Shah, Waheed Abbasi, Muharram Buriro, Hafiz Noor Ahmed Hussaini, Faqeer Khuda Bux Soomro and Imamuddin Khichi tried their best to meet the deputy commissioner Larkana on Tuesday in his office but they were told that DC was busy.

Later, they staged a sit-in in front of DC office and held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh roundabout for acceptance of their justified demands. While talking to media, they said that the residents face trouble in going for prayers and works. They said their children cannot even attend their schools as knee deep sewage had submerged the streets.

They said that the municipal authorities and district administration were treating their localities step-motherly as no development scheme had so far been initiated in any of the Muhallas which had proved that they had been left at the mercy of God. They further said that 2 to 3 foot water was standing at the moment and invited journalists to visit their areas and see the situation. They said these localities come within the limits of Union Committee 10 and 11 from where deputy mayor Anwar Luhar and Tarique Mahmood Soomro were elected in the local bodies election.
