70 drug addicts shifted to Hyderabad for treatment

LARKANA: Over 70 drug addicts were arrested by police here on Friday and shifted to Railway Station for sending them to Giddu Hospital, Hyderabad, where they will be treated for the heroin addiction.

In this connection, incharge of the operation Inspector Naveed Akbar Siyal told newsmen that drug addicts at the very outset were captured and brought at different police stations and then shifted to Hyderabad under police security after offering them breakfast at the police stations so that they could be treated for their addiction. He said police are trying to make Larkana free of addicts.

It must be remembered here that such operations have also been carried out before wherein addicts were captured but they still exist in thousands and can be seen everywhere in the entire district.

Most of the Intravenous Drug Users (IDUs) are suffering from HIV as they use the same syringe but they have never been touched to stop spread of the deadly virus, sources added. People have demanded serious legal action against drug peddlers, traffickers and their gangs across the district without any favour to eradicate the menace which has ruined lives of the young generation.
