700 clinics sealed during anti-quackery drive

KARACHI:As many as 700 clinics have been sealed throughout Sindh province by anti-quackery teams of Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) for being involved in unfair practices putting lives of people in danger, an official told PPI on Friday.

The SHCC in its crackdown on quackery in Sindh sealed over 700 Healthcare Establishments (HCEs’) in the province. In this week, the anti-quackery teams visited Jacobabad, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Sukkur, Larkana and Karachi.

The crackdown on quacks has been accelerated all over the province, particularly in Larkana Division since last three weeks.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) SHCC and Director Anti-Quackery has also attended HIV Committee meeting led by Provincial Minister for Health Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho in which she appreciated efforts of SHCC and its current anti-quackery crackdown.

Directorate of Complaint SHCC has received 64 complaints in a week out of them 38 complaints were disposed of while 22 complaints are under process while four others are sub-judice.

Directorate of Licensing and Accreditation SHCC has received 61 new applications for registration this week and certificates were issued to 64 HCEs’ in this week bringing total number of registration certificates issued to 4,652. The team also conducted inspection of Mominabad Medical and Surgical Hospital Karachi.

Training schedule has been chalked out by Directorate of Clinical Governance and Training for creating awareness on infection control and quality improvement.
