KARACHI: The Hepatitis Prevention & Control Program, Sindh, has vaccinated 876, 9551 Hepatitis-B patients in Sindh province while 267,650 Hepatitis B & C patients were also registered from 2009 to December 2017.
As per statistics issued by Hepatitis Prevention & Control Program, Sindh, a total 267,650 hepatitis B and C patients was registered from 2009 to December 2017; out of them 228,606 hepatitis C and 39,044 hepatitis B patients. The treatment of 220,263 (20,453 Hepatitis B & 199,810 Hepatitis C) patients has been completed.
The statistics further said treatment of 25,903 (11,364 Hepatitis B & 14,539 Hepatitis C) patients is under way at Hepatitis Treatment Centres throughout Sindh province.
As per an estimated there are 3 million hepatitis carriers in Sindh province; out of them 2.5 percent suffer from hepatitis B and 4.9 percent from hepatitis C.
The Hepatitis Prevention & Control Program, Sindh (Chief Minister Initiative) was launched in January 2009 with cost of Rs2.7 billion with the objective to take preventive and curative measures and to launch public awareness campaigns throughout the province.
