LARKANA:The assistant commissioner, Ratodero, Qazi Sardar Ahmed, paid a surprise visit to meat markets in Larkana and Naundero and ordered arrest of all butchers who were selling meat at Rs 450 per kg instead of Rs 350 fixed by the government on Shabe-Barat.
He was accompanied by police which came into action immediately. Finding no way out, the butchers started requesting him for pardon and they were excused on the condition that they will abide by the law and sell meat on fixed rates so that poor people may also be able to celebrate the night.
He also found chicken sellers were selling at Rs 300 per kg against the fixed rate of Rs 280. Qazi warned them that no one will be spared if he is found charging exorbitant rates from the consumers.
