Action ordered against corrupt cops

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Allah Dino Khowaja has ordered police officials to point out corrupt cops in the police department and remove them from service if found guilty.

Addressing a meeting of high-ranking police officials at the Saleem Wahidi Auditorium in Clifton on Tuesday, the IGP said there was no place for corrupt policemen in the force. He asked all DIGs for taking immediately legal and disciplinary action against corrupt policemen and sack them if found guilty.

With a reference to main crime incident during last two months in the metropolis including, Naqibullah and Intezar murders, the IGP instructed police officers for ensuring complete implementation of the police reforms and standing operating procedure. He also instructed all range DIGs for mutual cooperation to ensure arrest of fugitive Rao Anwar.

He ordered DIG CIA to work harder to eliminate street crime, target killings, and other crimes, to safeguard the life and property of people. He asked them to send a complete report in this regard to the CPO on daily basis.

He further instructed for taking extraordinary security steps at all important places in the metropolis, such as sensitive installations, government and semi-government buildings, railways stations, airports, industrial and commercial centers, and all worship places, including temples of minority community.

He urged officials to resolve all pending problems of the families of martyred police within a month. He said departmental action would be initiated against those who use delaying tactics to solve the problems of the widows.
