All DCs asked to keep their cities clean

KARACHI:Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has asked the Deputy Commissioners to keep their district clean on priority basis.

He issued this instruction during a review meeting of the SSWMB (Sindh Solid Waste Management Board), which was attended by the Secretary Services /SGC and AD Naved Shaikh, Commissioner Karachi Dr Iftikhar Shalwani, MD SSWMB Dr AD Sanjani, Ishaq Maha- Special Secretary Local Government and all six (06) Deputy Commissioners of Karachi.

The Chief Secretary advised the Secretary Services to provide relevant staff to SSWMB, in consultation with the MD SSWMB. He also asked the Commissioner Karachi to monitor the cleanliness including garbage disposal task of Karachi, ensuring that each and every District could be clean properly.

Shah also desired that Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners should ascertain that human resources and machinery and equipment were being properly utilized under the ages of SSWMB, and to help the SSWMB, if needed be. He maintained that he would personally monitor the activities of SSWMB.

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary addressed the meeting regarding security arrangements on the eve of 76th Urs of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz. He advised the Commissioner Hyderabad to ensure the foolproof security for peaceful celebrations. He noted that the pilgrims must be provided with due facilities for attending the Urs, conveniently. He categorically noted that all out efforts must be undertaken no lacunae in security arrangements would be avoided.

The Commissioner Hyderabad Muhammad Abbas briefed that he tent cities had been established in Sehwan to facilitate the pilgrims, while exclusive security plan had been chalked out at Indus Highway to prevent the accidents, in addition to the availability of Ambulances and Police Mobiles, while camp hospitals and 40 heat stroke centers had also been set-up, as well inside the DARGAH 10 beded hospital unit is arranged to treat the patients in case of emergency. The availability of potable water, cleanliness and other necessary arrangement have also been completed. The DIG Hyderabad Naeem Shaikh reported that security arrangements have been undertaken to cope with the duties of maintaining Law and Order, sufficiently.

Syed Mumtaz Ali appreciating the efforts, pointed out that the Abdullah Shah Instt had been reactivated where 100 bed and staff would be available. He advised the Secretary Auqaf to ensure coordinated efforts for successful completion of Urs celebrations of 767th Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalander.
