KARACHI:An alleged member of a criminal gang involved in looting citizens was injured in an encounter with a police party in Orangi town area of the metropolis on Monday.
According to police, two armed men were snatching valuables from citizens at gunpoint, near Orangi town’s Basheer Chowk receiving information on police helpline a police team reached the scene and challenged the criminals.
As a result, shootout occurred between the two sides in which an alleged criminal, Bilal, aged 29, sustained bullet injuries. However, his accomplices managed to flee the scene. Police also claimed to have recovered a TT-pistol, a snatched bike and other valuables from his possession.
The arrested accused was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. Further investigation into the case was underway, police said.
