AMTF appeals for blood donation

KARACHI: A delegation of CSR Club of Pakistan visited the centre of Afzaal Memorial Thalassemia Foundation (AMTF), which has been providing latest treatment facilities free of charge to children suffering from the deadly blood disorder.

The treatment centre of Afzaal Memorial Foundation houses pharmacy, laboratory, X-Ray, diagnostic, and all the health-related services for treating children suffering from the fatal blood disorder.

While welcoming the delegation of CSR Club, Director of AMTF Atiq-ur-Rehman said that the trust had been working since the year 2003 for the children suffering from Thalassemia as thousands of such children had been given treatment so far from the centre. He said that children belonging to the deserving families were being given free of charge treatment facilities at the centre.

The AMTF director appealed to the general public to generously give blood donations, which was desperately required for treatment of children affected from different types of blood disorders.

He said that compulsory blood tests should be conducted both for males and females before their marriage in order to effectively prevent the cases of Thalassemia among the new-borns.

He said that a proper awareness campaign should be launched to make people aware about this deadly blood disease.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of CSR Club Naeem Qureshi appreciated the services of the trust saying that the CSR Club would provide utmost cooperation to the future operations and services of the centre being run by AMTF.

Mazhar Qasim, Dr Ejaz, and other officials of AMTF also briefed the visitors about functioning of Thalassemia treatment centre.
