ANP leader killed in armed attack in Peshawar

PESHAWAR:A local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) was shot dead in Peshawar’s Gulbahar area on Saturday.

According to Gulbahar Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ahmed Zunair, unidentified armed men opened fire on the vehicle of the Peshawar city district president of ANP, Sartaj Khan in Gulbahar area. As a result, he sustained severe bullet injuries on his face and chest and died on the spot.

The deceased was a member of the district council from Peshawar and was elected from Akhunabad area of the provincial capital.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan expressed grief over the incident and ordered the arrest of the culprits involved in the killing. ANP has announced to register a protest against the killing of its leader on 25 June.
