APNS condemns threats to newspaper vendor

KARACHI:All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) expresses its concerns over the recent statement of Abdul Haleem Mirani, General Secretary, Akhbar Farosh Union, District Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo against his neighbor, Maula Dino Mirani and his sons to forcibly purchase his house on cheap rate, states a press release of APNS.

Sarmad Ali, Secretary General, APNS hasexpressed profound concern over the recent statement of the General Secretary, Akhbar Farosh Union, District Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo.

The APNS strongly condemns the threats of violence as an attempt to suppress the media forcibly.

The APNS also appealed to the Inspector General, Sindh Police to provide adequate and meaningful security to media houses, journalists and distributors of newspapers and take action against the culprits who resorted to these illegal activities aimed at deterring the ability of press to report truth and provide access to information.
